Upward Bound Program

The Upward Bound Program prepares students to successfully pursue a post-secondary education. Through support and targeted instruction, the program works to increase the number of participants who enroll in, and graduate from, institutions of post-secondary education. The ABAC Tift-Area Upward Bound Program will serve 60 high school students from Atkinson, Ben-Hill and Worth County High Schools.

Upward Bound Program services include instruction in:

  • Math
  • Science
  • English Composition
  • Literature

Students who would be the first in their families to attend college, those from low-income households, and/or students with special needs are eligible to apply. Upward Bound is a federally funded program: all services to students are free.

The benefits of being selected include:

  • Individual tutoring
  • Study skill enhancement
  • Cultural opportunities
  • Educational and career counseling
