Bio

Mrs. Tammy Thompson Holton is a charismatic, unconventional literature teacher where she believes without passion you have nothing.  Mrs. Holton is just as enthusiastic about teaching and learning as she was when she first stepped into a classroom twenty-eight years ago.  She believes she epitomizes the teaching profession, ever growing, ever changing and always striving for excellence.  From her special education roots to the push to full inclusion and now a regular education teacher she has seen it all. She believes students don’t care what you know until they know that you care. Serving in five systems over her career in Southwest Georgia, she has had the opportunity to work with thousands of students, parents, teachers, administrators and support staff.  With a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Scranton University and Certification in Educational Leadership Tier 1 from Georgia Southern University, Special Education certification from Albany State University and English Education 6-12, Mrs. Holton brings a wealth of knowledge and experience into the classroomShe feels that she must meet students where they are and, bring them up to where they need to be, in order for them to be successful.  This motto has been tested, tried and proved, year after year in her classroom.  She considers herself a champion for her students and an ambassador for her school.  She currently serves as the Atkinson County System Wide Teacher of the Year and Atkinson County High School Teacher of the Year in Pearson, Georgia where she teaches 10th-12th Grade English Literature.  She also serves as the Assistant Coach for the Lady Rebels Soccer Team.  She believes her greatest strengths are her innate ability to connect to teenagers and her years of classroom experience for they have allowed her to build confidence in meeting the commitment and challenge of today’s educational system.
